Step 1 - Insert a new round into your knockout stage
Select an existing Tournament by clicking on the 'Manage' button in Admin Home.
Then in the Rounds page for the Tournament, click on the link 'Insert Round'
Name the round, something like '3rd place playoff'
Number of legs, this is the number of matches per tie, usually '1'
Set the 'Insert Round option' to be 'After' 'Semi-Final'
Set the max entrants (teams) in the round, this would normally be '2'
You will now have a new round in the tournament.
Step 2 - Change how teams progress into the Third Place Playoff
You now need to change how teams enter the Third Place Playoff round and the Final round.
Firstly, click on the link, 'change how teams enter this round' for the Third Place Playoff round.
In the dropdown select 'Stage: Knockout, Round: Semi-Final - Loser'
Then press 'Add'
This means that the losing teams from the semi-final round will progress into the Third Place Playoffs round.
Step 3 - Change how teams progress into the Final
The last thing to do is to change how teams enter the Final round.
Back on the Rounds page click on the link, 'change how teams enter this round' for the Final round.
In the dropdown select 'Stage: Knockout, Round: Semi-Final - Winner'
Then press 'Add'
Your rounds should now look something like this:
All the rounds will be setup correctly and you will just need to assign teams to the tie and create a match, do this in the Matches tab in the tournament schedule maker.
